My working life hasn’t followed one straight line.

Not even close.

I started in radio copywriting, where every word had to earn its place. Then came English and Drama teaching, years in high school guidance counselling, and later, Gestalt therapy and a range of counselling modalities.

On paper, they may look like separate careers.

To me, they aren’t.

I kept returning to the same territory: language, meaning, relationships, emotional life, human behaviour—and what happens to our judgement when life becomes complicated.

That is still the territory I work in now.

I’m a writer and the author of Whole, Not Wholesome.

I create courses because complicated human experience matters. I want to make complex ideas easier to understand and use.

One question sits underneath much of my work

How do we remain grounded in reality without reducing human experience to only what can be measured or explained?

Science matters deeply to me.

So do imagination, symbolism, meaning and contemplative life.

I’m interested in experiences that carry personal meaning. I’m equally interested in how we check what we think we know, what the evidence supports, what we may be assuming and what remains uncertain.

Reality and mystery don’t have to cancel each other out.

But staying open doesn’t mean believing everything that comes along. And being grounded doesn’t mean dismissing everything we can’t neatly explain.

That is where discernment matters.

So does something else I care about deeply: autonomy.

I’m not here to tell people what they must think, believe or do.

I’m here to offer information that may help people see what’s happening more clearly and use their own judgement about what comes next.

Take what is useful.

Leave what isn’t.

And decide for yourself what meaning you make from it.

THE LEARNING BEHIND THE WORK

Study, training and qualifications

My formal education and professional training include undergraduate study in education, a Master of Educational Studies in Guidance and Counselling, qualifications in Gestalt therapy and archetypal consulting and a certificate in Brain based learning.

I’ve worked across education, guidance counselling, psychotherapy and writing. That background informs my work in Holistic Psychoeducation.
